Applying for a Spanish visa, a residence permit, or a study place in Spain from Egypt usually means turning a stack of Arabic documents into Spanish or English. The Embassy of Spain in Cairo asks visa applicants to submit their supporting documents in original and copy, translated into Spanish or English. A misspelled name, a missing stamp, or a date that does not match your passport can delay your file or trigger a request for more documents.

Galenus For Certified Translation & Businessmen Services has provided certified translation in Egypt since 2014. We translate Egyptian civil, financial, academic, and legal documents for Spanish Embassy files, reproducing every stamp, signature, and margin note exactly as it appears on the original.

Documents commonly translated for the Spanish Embassy

Requirements depend on the visa type (tourism, family visit, study, work, or family reunification), so always check the official checklist for your category. In practice, applicants in Egypt most often need translations of:

  • Computerized birth certificates and family or individual civil registry extracts
  • Marriage and divorce certificates
  • Criminal record certificates (Egyptian police clearance)
  • Employment letters, salary statements, and social insurance printouts
  • Bank statements and balance certificates
  • Commercial registers and tax cards for business owners
  • Degree certificates and transcripts for student visas
  • Powers of attorney and declarations, including parental consent for minors travelling alone

Our general certified translation of certificates service covers most of these documents.

Language and legalization rules you should know

Spanish or English?

The Spanish Embassy’s visa page for Egypt states that documents must be translated into Spanish or English. English is often enough for short-stay visas, but some authorities inside Spain, for example for residence or academic procedures, may insist on Spanish. Ask the receiving authority which language it needs before you order. See our Arabic to Spanish translation page for more on our Spanish service.

Egyptian MFA legalization comes first

Egypt is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so Egyptian documents cannot be apostilled. They follow the legalization chain instead. The Spanish Embassy explains that it only legalizes original official documents that already carry the stamp of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and that it does not legalize translated documents. Read more on our Egyptian MOFA certificate authentication page.

Certified translation with the office stamp

We provide a certified translation bearing our office stamp, which the Spanish Embassy in Cairo accepts. If an authority inside Spain has its own translation requirements, ask for its instructions in writing and send them to us before we start.

Step by step: from original document to embassy file

  1. Obtain a recent original of the document from the issuing authority. Computerized versions are preferred.
  2. Have it certified by the issuing body if needed, then legalized by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We can handle this MFA authentication for you as an extra service.
  3. If your procedure requires embassy legalization, book a legalization appointment with the Spanish Embassy following the instructions on its official website.
  4. Send us the fully stamped document so every stamp and endorsement is included in the translation.
  5. Receive your stamped certified translation, on paper or as a scan, ready to add to your file.
  6. Submit your application through the external service provider designated by the embassy for visa applications.

FAQ: Spanish Embassy translation in Egypt

Does the Spanish Embassy in Cairo accept English translations?

According to the embassy’s visa page for Egypt, supporting documents must be translated into Spanish or English. Some procedures inside Spain may still require Spanish, so check with the authority handling your case.

Should I translate before or after MFA legalization?

After. Complete Egyptian MFA legalization first, then translate, so the translation covers every stamp. The Spanish Embassy also states that it does not legalize translated documents.

Can I get an apostille on Egyptian documents?

No. Egypt is not part of the Apostille Convention. Egyptian documents are legalized by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and, where required, by the Spanish Embassy.

Can I complete everything online?

Yes. You can send scans by WhatsApp or email, and we agree on how you receive the final translation.

How long does translation take?

Standard documents are delivered the same day. For large files or unusual documents, we confirm the delivery time after reviewing them.
