Your annual tax return is one of the clearest proofs of your real income and business activity. That is why visa, study, and immigration files, foreign banks, overseas partners, and international tenders sometimes request it. Returns are issued in Arabic and full of figures and accounting terms, so an accurate, complete translation is essential.

Galenus For Certified Translation & Businessmen Services has translated Egyptian financial and tax documents since 2014. We reproduce figures, tables, stamps, and signatures as they appear in the original, and spell names consistently with your passport or commercial register.

Important: we only translate tax returns. We do not prepare or file returns. We translate from Arabic into English, Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian, Korean, or Japanese.

Tax return, tax card, or taxpayer certificate?

An Egyptian tax return is the annual statement a taxpayer files with the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) reporting income, profits, and tax due for a specific year. It is often confused with two other documents:

  • Tax card: proves registration and shows the tax registration number only.
  • Taxpayer data certificate: shows the taxpayer’s current tax status.
  • Tax return: reports income, expenses, and tax for a given year, so it serves as proof of actual income.

If you need the card or certificate, see our guide to tax card vs taxpayer certificate translation. This page covers the annual return itself, its schedules, and attachments.

When are tax returns filed in Egypt?

Under Income Tax Law No. 91 of 2005, individuals file before 1 April of the following year, and companies file before 1 May or within four months of the end of their financial year. The ETA receives returns electronically through its official platforms. The law requires the return to be signed by a registered accountant in certain cases, including capital companies and individuals whose turnover exceeds EGP 2 million a year.

When do you need a tax return translation?

Visa files for business owners and the self-employed

Some embassies ask company owners and self-employed applicants for proof of activity and income. For example, the Norwegian Embassy’s visitor visa checklist for applicants in Egypt lists the “latest income tax return” among documents company owners may provide. See our certified translation office in Egypt page for embassy files in general.

Foreign banks and financial institutions

Banks abroad may ask for proof of the source of funds when opening an account or granting finance, and a translated return helps answer that.

Foreign partners and tenders

Overseas companies and tender organisers may request financial information about an Egyptian partner or supplier, including the tax return and financial statements.

Study and immigration sponsorship

Universities and immigration authorities may ask for proof of a sponsor’s or parent’s income. When the sponsor runs their own business, the tax return is commonly used for this purpose.

What we translate

  • The full annual return form with every line and figure
  • Schedules attached to the return and supplementary statements
  • The e-filing submission receipt or notice, where available
  • Attached financial statements or balance sheet, on request
  • Stamps, the accountant’s signature, and registration details as shown on the original

How we keep financial translations accurate

Figures checked twice

Every figure, date, and registration number is checked against the original in a second review before delivery.

Clear accounting terminology

We use financial terms a foreign reader understands, such as net profit, revenue, and tax due, rather than confusing literal renderings.

Layout preserved

We rebuild tables in the same order as the original so officers can compare the translation with the Arabic document easily.

Does the return need legalization?

It depends on who will receive it. Some recipients accept a certified translation alone; others may ask for official legalization of the original. Egypt is not a party to the Apostille Convention, so where legalization is needed it goes through the competent Egyptian authorities and then the relevant embassy. We can handle Egyptian MFA authentication as an extra service; see our Egyptian MOFA certificate authentication page, and confirm requirements in writing with the recipient before you start.
