Planning to study, work, join family, or stay longer than three months in South Africa? Your application will need Egyptian official documents, and most of them are issued in Arabic. A complete English translation that carries over every detail, stamp, and date helps your file move without avoidable questions.

Galenus For Certified Translation & Businessmen Services has provided certified translation in Egypt since 2014. We translate documents for South Africa visa applications into English, with our office stamp and names spelled exactly as in your passport.

Where to apply for a South Africa visa in Egypt

The South African Embassy in Cairo is located in Degla, Maadi. Its official website lists the requirements for each visa category, including work, study, relative’s, and visitor’s visas for stays longer than three months. Long-term visas use application form DHA-1738.

Submission methods and collection times can change, so check the current list for your category on the embassy website or in your application instructions before you prepare translations.

Documents commonly translated for South Africa

Based on the embassy’s published requirements, many categories call for:

  • Police clearance certificates for applicants aged 18 and over
  • A full medical certificate
  • Unabridged birth certificates to prove kinship, and for learners under 18
  • A bank-certified statement covering the last three months for visits longer than three months
  • Proof of qualifications for work visas
  • Parental consent for a minor’s study stay
  • Employment contracts and employer letters

See our certified translation of certificates service for more detail.

Language and legalization rules

Translation into English

English is one of South Africa’s official languages, so we translate your South Africa file into English. Check your application instructions for the language each document needs. Our certified translation from Arabic to English page explains the service in detail.

Qualifications for work visas

The embassy states that general work, critical skills, and corporate worker visas need proof of qualifications evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and translated by a sworn translator into one of South Africa’s official languages. If your application falls under these categories, Galenus arranges the sworn translation of these documents through a sworn translator we work with.

Egyptian MFA legalization

Egypt is not a party to the Apostille Convention, so Egyptian documents usually need legalization by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs when a foreign authority asks for it. We offer MFA authentication as an extra service; read more on our Egyptian MOFA certificate authentication page. If the embassy asks for further legalization, follow your application instructions.

When to translate

Translate after all stamps and legalizations are in place, so the translation covers everything on the original.

Step by step

  1. Choose your visa category and read its document list on the embassy website.
  2. Obtain recent originals, especially police clearance and bank statements.
  3. Legalize what is needed at the Egyptian MFA, or ask us to handle it as an extra service.
  4. Send us the fully stamped documents.
  5. We translate into English and run a second review.
  6. Arrange originals and translations in the order of the embassy checklist and submit your file.

Tips to avoid delays

  • Request a full birth certificate that shows both parents, since the embassy asks for an unabridged birth certificate in some categories.
  • Get a police clearance certificate from every country where you lived for a year or more after turning 18, as the embassy requires.
  • Make sure your bank statement is certified by the bank and covers the last three months when your category requires it.
  • Check the passport validity for your category. For long-term visas, the embassy asks for a passport valid at least 30 days beyond your intended departure date.
  • Keep the Latin spelling of names identical across your passport, form, and translations.
