More Egyptians are heading to Romania to study, work, join family, register a marriage, or register a child’s birth. Each of these procedures depends on Egyptian official documents that are correctly legalized and translated, because Romanian authorities check names, dates, stamps, and the order of legalizations closely.
Galenus For Certified Translation & Businessmen Services has provided certified translation in Egypt since 2014. We translate documents for Romanian Embassy files and help you put the legalization steps in the right order, so you do not have to repeat any of them. On this page you will find the documents most often requested, the legalization chain, the right translation language for each procedure, and how to order online.
How Romanian visa applications work in Egypt
According to the Romanian Embassy in Cairo and the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ eViza platform, you start by completing the visa application online on eViza. You then submit your file in person at the embassy at your appointment. Supporting documents are presented in original with copies, and it is the applicant’s responsibility to make sure documents are properly legalized.
Romania is now a full member of the Schengen area, so short-stay travel planning follows Schengen rules too.

Legalization and language rules
Egyptian MFA legalization
Egypt is not a party to the Apostille Convention, so Egyptian documents go through the legalization chain: certification by the issuing body where needed, then legalization by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Romanian Embassy’s civil status page states that Egyptian birth and marriage certificates must be legalized by the Egyptian MFA. Read more on our Egyptian MOFA certificate authentication page.
Which language?
For civil status procedures before Romanian authorities, the embassy states that documents are translated into Romanian by an authorized translator. Galenus works with a translator authorized in Romania for translations into Romanian. Visa documents may be accepted in English in some cases, depending on the checklist for your visa type. We confirm the right target language with you based on the authority that will receive your file.
Translations that need further certification
Some procedures require the translation itself to be certified by a competent Romanian authority. If that applies to your case, check the instructions before translating, and we will explain your options honestly.
Step by step
- Obtain a recent original from the issuing authority.
- Have it certified by the competent body if needed, then legalized by the Egyptian MFA.
- Send us the fully stamped document so every legalization is included in the translation.
- We translate into Romanian or English, depending on the procedure, and run a second review.
- Complete your visa application on eViza and book your appointment at the embassy.

FAQ: Romanian Embassy translation in Cairo
Where do I apply for a Romanian visa in Egypt?
You start online on the eViza platform of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then submit your file at the Romanian Embassy in Cairo on your appointment date.
Should my birth certificate be legalized before translation?
Yes. Legalize it at the Egyptian MFA first, then translate it, so the translation covers every stamp.
Can I translate into English instead of Romanian?
It depends on the procedure. Civil status procedures usually need Romanian, while some visa types may accept English. Check the checklist for your application.
Can I use an apostille instead of MFA legalization?
No. Egypt is not part of the Apostille Convention, so Egyptian documents are legalized by the Egyptian MFA.
Can I complete the service online?
Yes. Send your documents on WhatsApp or by email and receive the translation as agreed.
